JRV – Masabi
The Masabi JRV (Justride Validator) is a compact, multi-format ticket validator for public transport to provide an affordable Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) solution, allowing passengers to tap contactless bank cards (cEMV), smartcards, mobile devices, or scan barcodes for faster, safer boarding on buses and trams. It provides agencies with a cost-effective, SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution, integrating various fare media and offering features like GPS and cellular connectivity.
The JRV reads cEMV (tap-to-pay bank cards), NFC smartcards, mobile barcodes (on phones), and paper barcodes and enables tap-and-go travel where fares are calculated and charged to a linked account, simplifying ticketing for riders. It includes built-in GPS, cellular, and Ethernet for real-time data and updates and is designed to meet accessibility standards, with clear tactile zones for users.
JWD was responsible for the design of all custom manufactured parts within the JRV, while preserving the aesthetic direction specified in the product brief. The JRV is installed onto the hand rails within busses and trams and a solution that provided secure access and serviceability was required, while observing the safety standards of public transit devices. JWD also oversaw the detailed design of all injection moulded plastic parts, the hardware integration and the design for manufacture.
